Psalm 63:1-2
(A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.) O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; to see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
David longed to be brought out of this wilderness, not that he might see his friends again, and be restored to the pleasures and excitement of the court, but that he might have access to the sanctuary - to once more worship Him in all the "beauty of holiness," as he had so often seen previously. David longed for the presence and the power of God in the services of public worship - the praises, the prayers, the rejoicings, the evidences of His divine presence.
Church, in many ways we too are in a “wilderness” right now. And, just like David, we must remain HUNGRY to worship together and behold His Presence in the sanctuary. Until then, let us continue to read God’s Word, seeking Him as a thirsty man looks for water in a dry and thirsty land.
We will be together in the sanctuary soon…
